WHY SOFTSHOX CHINSTRAPS
HELMETS HAVE A BLINDSPOT HIGH SPEED IMPACT INSIGHT ENTER SOFTSHOX CHINSTRAP REAL SCIENCE. NOT HYPE. PROVEN ON THE GRIDIRON
Facemask impacts are typically the lowest performing impact location in helmet tests. Yet, studies report nearly 50% of impacts to a football player's head are to the facemask and the NFL reports more than 40% of in-game concussions result from facemask impacts. Helmet shell add-on's don't help because they protect the shell and not the facemask. Helmets have a blindspot.
Chinstraps have always just existed to hold a helmet onto the head, but no longer. High speed video analysis of hundreds of helmet tests reveals that facemask impacts engage the chinstrap, pulling on the chinstrap and chin. Meaning, a shock absorber placed at the base of the chin could absorb some facemask impact energy.
Our engineers invented the Guardian SoftShox Chinstrap. With a SoftShox hydraulic pad at the base of the chin to absorb the impact energy and a window so athletes can see the pad at work. We worked closely with athletes to ensure performance without compromise.
“Not optimized for the lab. Built for real life.” The SoftShox Chinstrap is a new class of protection that uses a device to control impact across changing real-world conditions rather than optimizing for a single test scenario.
SoftShox is a patented liquid hydraulic device that adapts in real-time to impacts, dispersing forces away from the body. SoftShox uses the same energy absorbing physics as aerospace and automotive hydraulic systems, but in a soft and wearable form for football players.
Used by athletes across professional and college football, this chinstrap stands strong at the highest levels of the game. With its distinctive "Window" at the base of the chin, you can always tell when an athlete has chosen performance without compromise.

Broughton High School Football PlayerIt adds an additional layer of concussion protection. As an offensive and defensive lineman, that is important to me.
Melbourne Mercenaries PlayerThere isn't a better chin strap that can reduce the amount of force that's receives in a hard hitting game to the brain
Bartlett High School Panthers PlayerGreat fit, no issues, and more confidence of protection while taking hits.
